I try to imagine playing this game when I am unable to walk eighteen or even nine holes. But, in fact, I just can't imagine it. I see young people playing round after round using golf carts, and I feel a sense of superiority. I like walking the course. It is one of the best reasons for playing. I walk fast whenever I can just to get my heart working, but I walk slowly once in a while to take in the day, the scenery on Lake Superior, or to check out the bluebirds, mallards, and ovenbirds that use the water and the woods of my home course as their habitat. I walk slowly when my IPP and I are deep in conversation. But I walk, and I will walk until they have to shovel me up with a front-end loader and carry me and my Strategy clubs off the course for good.
